Maks Steszewski

- Integrative Psychotherapist -

Maks is an integrative psychotherapist who offers a safe, grounded space and a trusting relationship that honours each client’s unique experience. His work is embodied, trauma-focused, and person-centred, and he seeks to work with curious individuals who feel called to reconnect with themselves — their intuition, purpose and sense of meaning. Maks has a special interest in working with people undergoing significant life transitions, as he believes that these tender periods offer rare opportunities to harness genuine growth toward one’s fullest potential.

He has worked extensively with LGBTQIA+ communities through Thorne Harbour Health’s General Counselling team. Maks confidently welcomes clients from all backgrounds. Having grown up queer in a migrant family, he brings a lived understanding of marginalisation that enriches his work with people who may feel disempowered. He also has significant experience supporting people living with chronic mental health conditions, including neurodivergent individuals and those navigating trauma (including PTSD and C-PTSD), Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder, Depression and Anxiety.

He also works with individuals exploring identity-based concerns, relational difficulties, grief and loss, and existential concerns. Maks’s somatic and experiential approach draws from therapeutic modalities such as Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Existential Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Interpersonal Therapy, somatic and mindfulness-based practices, Attachment Theory and trauma-informed principles.

Maks believes profound and lasting change relies on gently nurturing the process of discovery and integration. He aims to journey alongside clients as they traverse the personal, social, cultural and spiritual dimensions of their lives. He hopes to support the development of a robust and grounded sense of self — one that can meet life’s challenges with presence and confidently take its place within community and the wider world.
